The Queen of Flowers, the rose, is a special challenge for porcelain painting. There has been a tradition of painting roses at FÜRSTENBERG since the 18th century – during the Biedermeier Period, small dog roses were popular, and the great Art Nouveau artist Heinrich Vogeler created a rose motif for FÜRSTENBERG in 1913/15 with a centifolia, a “cabbage rose”. This course will provide both traditional and modern principles of rose painting.
